BEAUTIFUL BIRLA MANDHIR, hyderabad

About Birla Mandir
The enchanting modern Birla Mandir is located at the south end of Hussain Sagar in Hyderabad. It stands atop the Kala Pahad, the twin hillock of the Naubat Pahad. The Birlas (industrialists who have built several temples in India) built this temple in 1976. The temple has been built with white marbles from Rajasthan.

Birla Mandir offers a spectacular sight when illuminated at night. A tour to Hyderabad is considered incomplete without a visit to the enchanting Birla Mandir.

Char minar is most famous Historical place of Hyderabad and Andhra pradesh. We can say there is equal importance ofCharminar as Taj mahal in agra and eiffel tower in parries. First let me tell you that who built charminar and when? the fifth ruler of the Qutb Shahi dynasty Sultan Muhammad Quli Qutb Shah built the Charminar in1591 century. After Shifting His capital from golkunda to Hyderabad He built this awesome structure of charminar. Because of charminar this landmark became a global icon of Hyderabad .

Golconda Fort

Golconda is built on a granite hill 120m high, and is surrounded by crenulated ramparts constructed of large masonry blocks weighing several tonnes. The design of the ventilation reveals the brilliant planning of the architects; they are designed to let in a flow of fresh cool breeze, which is a respite from the heat of summer.

The massive gates are studded with large pointed iron spikes to prevent elephants from battering them down. The outer wall surrounding the entire township of Golconda, is about 11-km long, and is strongly fortified. In its heyday, the 10-km long road from Golconda to outer Hyderabad was a fabulous market selling jewellery, diamonds, pearls and other gems, which were famous all over the world.

Qutub Shahi Tombs



You will find more than 20 tombs at one place, these tombs are famous as 'Seven Tombs'. These tombs erected in memory of the departed kings of Golconda are truly magnificent monuments that have stood the test of time and the vagaries of nature. These imposing marvels of architectural excellence stand as solemn reminders of the grandeur and glory of Golconda and the great kings who are buried here.

These tombs mark a unique architectural style which is a mixture of Persian, Pathan and Hindu forms. The arcades on all the sides and the pointed arches add to their beauty and grace. Situated 1 kilometre away from Golconda fort.

Sanghi Temple

The temple opens early in the morning at 5.00 am. For one hour, Suprabhatam is recited, followed by Archana to the deities from 6 am to 8 am. General darshan for the devotees is allowed from 8.30 am to 10.30 am and 4 pm to 6 pm. Poojas and Sevas are held between 6 pm and 8 pm. The temple remains closed between 12 am and 4 pm and after 8 pm. Weekly Abhishekam is performed to the deities between 8 am and 9 am - Sri Ramalingeshwara (Mondays) Sri Hanuman (Tuesdays), Sri Venkateshwara, Ashtalakshmi, Parvathi, Padmavathi and Rama (Fridays).

Hussain Sagar, Tank Bund 

One of the largest man made lakes is situated at Hyderabad. Its uniqueness lies in the fact that it connects the twin cities of Hyderabad and Secunderabad. A famous monolith of Lord Buddha is installed at the center of the lake. Hussain Sagar Lake is popularly known as the Tank Bund, a major spot of tourist attractions.

16 mtr. tall, 350 tonne (approx.) monolithic Buddha statue is situated in the middle of the Hussain Sagar Lake, silhouetted against the sunset. Totally, it is made of white granite, the largest statues in all over the world.

Boating and Water Sports are a regular feature at Hussain Sagar.

Falaknuma Palace

Located at a distance of 5 km from Charminar, Falaknuma Palace is on a 2000-foot-high hill. Falaknuma Palace was built by Nawab Vikar-ul-Umra. WIth the construction laid out in 1884, it took almost 9 years to complete the construction of the palace. One of the popular tourist spots of Hyderabad, Falaknuma Palace was later purchased by Nizam VI in 1897 who used it as a royal guest house.

Constructed over an area of 32 acres and approximately 2,000 feet above Hyderabad, the Falaknuma Palace has been constructed with Italian marble. Built by an Italian architect, the palace is one of the architectural wonders of 19th century and is often referred as "mirror of the sky".

With interiors decorated lavishly, the palace has close to 220 rooms and 22 halls, each designed beautifully. The Palace boasts of chandeliers, marble staircase, carved balustrades, huge library and unique collection of the Holy Quran. Along with this, the rosewood dining table of the palace with a capacity of hosting 100 guests at a time is also worth noticing.The Nizam also treasured massive collections of rare paintings, statues, furniture, manuscripts and books. The Jade collection of the Falaknuma Palace is famous all over the world.

Chowmahallah Palace

The Chowmahallah Palace was once the centre of Hyderabad. It was the seat of the Asafjahi dynasty where the Nizam entertained his official guests and royal visitors. The palace is unique for its style and elegance. The complex consists of two courtyards with elegant palaces, the grand Khilwat (the Durbar Hall), fountains and gardens. Khilwat Mubarak is the heart of the Palace. The Asaf Jahis deserted the former Qutb Shahi palace quarter lying north west of the Charminar and decided to construct a new palace complex for themselves to the south west of the Charminar. Different portions of the Chowmahalla were built during different phases of the Asaf Jahi rule. This was built around 1780 during the reign of Nawab Nizam Ali Khan, Asaf Jah II, but extensively renovated later in 1911.The palaces are named Afzal Mahal, Mahtab Mahal, Tahniyat Mahal and Aftab Mahal. Of these, Afzal Mahal, a two storeyed building, is the most imposing.

The grand pillared Durbar Hall has a pure marble platform on which the Taqt-e-Nishan or royal seat was laid. The 19 spectacular chandeliers of Belgian crystal have been recently re-installed to create the lost splendour of this regal hall.The Council Hall is the venue for the temporary exhibitions from the treasures of the Chowmahalla Palace collection that offer you a glimpse of the bygone era. Laad Bazaar or Choodi Bazaar is a very old market popular for bangles located in Hyderabad. It is located on one of the four main roads that branch out from the historic Charminar.

Laad meaning lacquer is used to make bangles, on which artificial diamonds are studded. In this 1-kilometre (0.62 mi)-long shopping strip, most of the shops sell bangles, saris, wedding related items, and cheap jewelry.

Begum Bazaar

The Begum Bazaar is located two kilometers from the Naya Pul bridge in the Old City. It is an age old retail and wholesale market for household commodities. Of late, several brassware merchants have set up shop in the Begum Bazaar. Begum Bazar is the largest market in the city. House old commodities of all sizes, shapes and brands at the best prizes are available. The only hitch at the bazar is the congestion and the lack of hygiene. Deals worth crores are struck daily. If you are looking for any article at the best prize then Begum Bazar is the best place.

The adjoining Moazzam Jahi market is the largest fruit and vegetable market in the city. This market is being slowly replaced by the market at Kothapet which is there beyond Dilsukhnagar.

General Bazaar

Situated in the heart of Secunderabad, the twin of Hyderabad. It is the second largest whole sale market after Begum Bazar in the city. Household commodities, kids articles and bangles are available at the best prizes.

Adjacent to General Bazar is the Tobacco Bazar, the second biggest Saree wholesale market in the state. Sarees of all types are available

Sultan Bazaar

Situated between the Residency and the Badi Chowdi, the Sultan Bazaar is the most busy commercial centre in the city. It was formerly called the Residency Bazaar. Today, it brims with the calls of street pedlars and modern, inviting signboards side by side. Anything and everything can be found on this single stretch of road. The best buys include women's wear, slippers & shoes, bangles and other trinkets.

Shilparamam

A crafts village set up at Madhapur beyond Jubilee Hills. It is spread over 30 acres and has annual bazaars where artists and artisans from all over the country participate.The famous arts and crafts exhibition at Shilparamam for 15 days every year and the three day Society Arts and Crafts exhibition conducted every year are a couple of such exhibitions which mark its importance in the city besides a whole lot of shops that cater to the art lovers of the city

.At any given time, you will find quite a lot of stuff to look around-Chanderi saris and dress materials from Indore, Madhubani paintings from Patna, Ikat fabric from Pochampally from Andhra Pradesh among others. One small section of these sprawling grounds is all about ceramic ware with beautiful collections of hand-painted pottery. You could take some time off between shopping for a boat ride at the pond inside Shilparamam or help yourself to some street food. For night shoppers, there's Shilpa Sandhya Vedika or the Night Bazaar, a much smaller section of Shilparamam, which is open till one in the morning.
